    • canの過去形
      • could: 習慣的能力があった
        • He could run very fast when he was young.
        • ある時期にそう言う能力があった。
      • was able to: することができて、実際にやった
        • I was able to pass the exam although it was difficult.
        • 実際にやった。
      • could have done: できたに違いない(実際にはやらなかった)
        • When I went on a biz trip to Tokyo, I could have stayed with one of my friends there, but I put up at a hotel.
